ACG and IMC sign MoU for training of caregivers

AGED Care Group (ACG) this month signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with IMC Education (IMC) to facilitate the training of caregivers, specifically for senior citizens.

The MoU was signed by Christy Chiu Lai Heng, executive director of IMC, and Dato’ Frank Choo, ACG’s managing director.

The collaboration establishes a relationship between ACG and IMC to provide internship and volunteering opportunities for IMC students to enhance their practical skills through ACG’s services and programmes.

IMC students will gain invaluable constructive experiences that will improve their employability prospects.

ACG chief executive officer Carol Yip said the MoU stresses the importance of education and that the collaboration will offer students an avenue for practical training in niche areas such as dementia, Parkinson’s Disease and home nursing.

She elaborated that “this concerted effort complements the government’s Economic Transformation Programme, which aims to improve the existing aged care provision and industry to achieve a high level income society by 2020”.

Yip said the collaboration will complement IMC’s aspirations to train and develop a new generation of nurses and allied health professionals via its caregiving certification programmes.

The chief purpose of the collaboration is to intensify performance in services related to senior living and increase the supply of trained, qualified and skilled caregivers.
